Sigma don't seem to care about such things. They can do what they want of course but it does seem like a strange strategy that doesn't make much sense. Of course the real fans understand the good side of Sigma cameras, but it is a very hard sell outside that little group and Sigma appear to content to keep on repeating the same moves.

I wonder why? They must surely have some kind of plan... what we need is Rick or Laurence or Kendall, anyone who the ear of Sigma to spill the beans... how do we make sense of the seeming wacky products they make????

One of my friends is a VP at Foveon. I don't get carp out of him, except for great conversations about many interesting subjects (but not R&D).

With the quattro, Sigma has done the following:

1. Made the camera better to hold (arguably).

2. Made it 2x fast

3. Made the files smaller

4. Improved the menus

5. Added another command wheel for added control

6. Added color/monochrome modes

7. Doubled battery life...

I hear all the complaining---and it's true that this camera isn't as fast as x, or has battery life on par with Y, or is as small as Z... But in fact, they've been improving in the areas where most of the complaining has been going on.
