Good example. I too hear the blather about more MP being better and I agree to some extent but I often don't see the advantage. Higher MP does show more fine detail when downsized to a camera of a lower MP sensor. Even your example shows the D800 looks very slightly sharper in the details, however, the Sony 7s with 1/3rd the pixels blows the D800 away at higher ISOs. There really is no comparison between the images.

I don't understand when people say you get better dynamic range with more MPs as well. Certainly technology can improve DR, but when you downsize, what is blown out stays blown out, you don't gain anything as far as DR, unless I'm not understanding.
