I don't know if the new Q is brilliant or a piece of junk, but I know that this guy hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. I don't mean Sigma specific stuff, just about digital photography in general! A typical internet phenomenon: an "expert" who can't be bothered to learn a few basics about the subject before jumping on line and pontificating...

I think the mainstream is going to pass on the DP2Q, because of reviews such as this.  This guy is a casual user who can't tell the difference between P (program exposure) mode and M (manual exposure) mode, much like most users of DSLRs in the USA at least.

I could go on (can't we all) with a litany of criticisms, but his point is made that the typical camera user will not like the DP2Q.  Typical users are where the real money is, at least here in the USA.  To them, as we have seen, the DP2Q is practically worthless.

I think we should be very grateful that Sigma is willing to lead the pack rather than sink down to the level of the herd.  There has to be more motivating Sigma than simple monetary gain, and we are seeing it in the DP2Q design.  And it was a gutsy and risky move to make early production available to people for reviews... a lot of people.

These reviews may give Sigma some incentive to develop a mirrorless Quattro with a more ergonomic body shape and interchangeable lenses.   Their economic strength is lenses, why not sell a few to Sigma camera users?

Of course I would be very interested in such a camera but I'll also be very interested in a DP3Q, if one appears.
