Difference between 3d-matrix and dynamic area

Hi,

I am trying to understand the difference between 3d-matrix and dynamic area AF-area modes.

With dynamic area I set the initial focus point (on the subject) and then the AF follows the subject as he moves back and forth and right and left. While the subject is moving the camera could pick up other focus points. So if focus using the rightmost focusing point and the subject moves to the left of the frame I will still see the rightmost focusing point highlighted but as a matter of fact camera is focussing using the lefstmost. After the picture is taken the process will start with the set focusing point, in this case the righmost one. Correct?

With 3d- matrix the difference is that the focusing point moves as the subject moves and indeed this is visible in the viewfinder.

What are the other difference? When I should use 3d-matrix in your opinion? Give me please some practical scenarios.

Thanks.
