Re: One trick pony

TheEngineer,

The design, I am told, is intended to move the heat producing elements away from where they can effect IQ.

I agree with others, that if you are only viewing on a small screen, a web page etc, looking at relatively small JPEGS and NOT doing any post processing of any of your files, then stick with your camera phone. They are quite amazingly "good enough" for such usage. And getting better all the time. This will save a lot of money and frustration.

On the other hand, if you think of the Quattro as a special tool that can perhaps be usefully thought of as more of a "view camera on a tripod", and are willing to post process even the JPEGs, then the Q becomes much more interesting indeed.  What it does well, it does very well indeed.

I have posted a few more test samples at:

The Q is not for everyone and would probably not be my 1st choice for a general purpose mirrorless camera.  For that I love my X100S.  But the Q blows the X100S away when used carefully in the right conditions.  In fact, the Q is so good at what it does do well that I wonder why I would invest time and effort with any camara that can not match its results?

Comments?  Suggestions?

Cheers,

Jock
