Re: will the G1X have scratch lens problem too?

It's hard to argue one way or another that a general problem exists from individual personal data. Further, not knowing the root cause(s) and not looking at the statistics (Canon won't ever share) leaves us somewhat guessing based on info from those who post or the odd article.
I suspect that there may be an real issue here for a number of people. But my tea leaves are no better than anyone else's. I buy based on my own experience and what I read in these forums....there is a lot of great info to be found.
That said, and being very conscious of my first sentence, the 'lens scratching problem' does not enter into my buying decision. I'm very paranoid about lens cleanliness and even a minor scratch would cause me not to use a camera or lens. You can see from my equipment list I have many opportunities to either scratch a lens thru improper handling or cleaning or have it scratched due to a design defect on any camera. I have no such scratches. I conclude that the incidence is real but likely small or I'm very lucky.
I just took my G1X MII on a two week trip to Scotland (and a S120 as a backup) and took over 5k photos on the MII and 1k photos on the S120. Was very nervous in case I had any issues, but both worked flawlessly. Talk about packing light. I learned a lot about the MII and got to appreciate its capabilities and limitations as I became more familiar with it. I will post more when I organize my thoughts. A slight hint is that I would use the same again. Also, no lens scratches on either camera. But then, my first sentence puts that in perspective.
