Does the G2 support Raw data files (specifically Nikon NEF images)?
I have heard that some of these portable storage devices do not.

And another G2 question....

Does the IT G2 double as a USB2.0 CF reader? In other words, do two devices show up in your Explorer window?

I received the g2 today. Have not tried raw file yet but I think it works. All it does is copy the entire compact flash to a folder on the HD.

So when i copied mine I got card0001-> dcim-> blah blah. so raw should be ok. It also does show 2 devices on the explorer window.

The complete/ready icon is handy and the construction seems sturdy. That's one of the reason I bought this device .. the complete copy icon and copy back to compact flash feature.

The manual is a little confusing and it's probably operator error but I couldnt figure out how to browse/delete/copy the folder(s) very easily.

I could only figure out copy from compact flash to HD and that's it. (exe-exe) probably need to go through the manual again.

Another test result from a website in Taiwan:

G2 -> PC (413 files, 1Gb) 380 secs, 2.69Mb/sec
G2 -> PC (2 files, 1Gb) 329secs, 3.11Mb/sec

I don't know what you mean by support. You only download the raw files to the harddisk in the Image Tank. I have the Image Tank 1 and it works good with raw files.

So it's faster than USB 1.1 but not even close to the storage-to-PC speed of Tripper, which can reach about 15MB/sec for CF cards.

Anybody out there done any testing yourself on IT G2?

I just bought one super digibin. Still experimenting.

But before deciding I never paid a lot of attention on how much time it takes to copy from storage device to PC. Thats not what I care. As my most of the download to PC will happen in night when I am relaxed. On the otherside, when you use USB1, its ok in speed.

I wanted one device which can transfer fast from my memory stick to storage and gives all the transfer information on display.

Last month I come home after nearly 6 month in Thailand. I have a
Image Tank (usb1). It took me 13 hours to download the pictures to
my computer. I wish that I have usb2 instead.

Wow Lars, whad did you have 160 Gig HD? I always use drag and drop moving my files from the IT to my desktop HD. Takes no time at all.

If you have 30GB of photo files in the USB1.1 Image Tank, it will take you about 10 hrs to download all the files to PC:
30,000/0.83/3600--> about 10 hrs

A "good" USB2.0 device should cut this time by a factor of 20 to 40, which means 30 to 15 minutes. What a huge difference!

Arthur -- just wondering how much time will it take you to "drag-and-drop" 30GB files from your IT to PC?

That's the time in teori I think. When you do it for real it will take a little bit longer. Lars
