For testing with flat objects, must be perpendicular to target...


As the post title indicates, for testing, you must be perpendicular to the target (signs, test charts, etc.).

With manual focus you can first prove if the lens is capable of good IQ. If so, then move on to testing with AF. If the body does not have the AF Micro Adjust, then you can't "correct" the AF accuracy for that lens and body combo. One or both items may need to be adjusted by their respective service facilities in order to have accurate AF.
