I understand your feeling and i am sorry to hear that. I went with a friend of mine to take some night photos. The place was not the best with very near yellos lights from the left. I set mi X-A1 and he set his Canon 5D. I simply put the two photos in order to compare the results.

I prefer my X-A1 and i think 9 years make a lot of difference in sensor quality. The 1600 detail of the trees is much better in X-A1.

Thank you for the extra info. Yes, the A1 certainly handled the color balance better, and though there is more detail in the A1, that is partially because his camera stability wasn't as good as yours.

Given that the shutter speed was 30 seconds and I can see movement in the trees, I assume both were taken on a tripod, so I am guessing your tripod was more stable than his, or maybe you were just lucky to avoid wind gusts during the exposure.

I have also done some night photography, and it always seems that the clearest nights are also the windiest. I have often found myself trying to stand between the wind and the tripod, in an attempt to improve camera stability. It doesn't really work though, so i guess I need a better tripod.
