Second sample is better than first. Do you have third sample?

This one is from my E-PM2 & I think it's better. Is that simply because the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 lens is better than the Sony kit lens on the other camera? Or because the Sony image is considerably larger on screen at 100%? I guess at the end of the day it probably doesn't matter. While I really enjoy the way the A6000 feels in the hand, I'm just not getting the wow factor improvement that I expected on the images so it probably makes more sense to return it for now.

Generally primes outperforms zooms.  I have no idea how good or bad the 14/2.5 is but I would expect it to be better just because power zooms are the most compromised designs there are while primes are generally less so (especially those that aren't particularly fast).

The differences in cameras (aside from issues dependent on lenses) will best be seen at the margins.  So look at a high dynamic range image at ISO 100 like a sunset.  Or look at a low light scene that requires at least ISO 3,200.  This is where you're likely to see the differences.  For "everyday" subjects at base ISO, you're not going to see a lot of difference, especially since these are two of the closest sensor sizes among systems.
