I am kind of a one-system girl...

New cameras always were and always will be a luxury item. They are not a necessity of life, even though that might be debatable by a few of us gearheads here. When money is in short supply, things like groceries and gasoline always have a much higher priority.

So disposable income certainly is a big factor. A very big factor.

So those people that said "more free cash" were telling the truth. Because everyone on these forums would probably buy every camera and lens they ever wanted if they hit the Powerball lottery. I know I sure would.

Imagine, you could buy every camera and lens currently sold by Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc for a measly $1 million, and you just won a $100 million lottery. OK, throw all the Leicas in. Call it $2 million now.

Funny, I wouldn't. I would buy a few more lenses, and some good speedlights for my system instead of the cheapies I have now, and some more studio lights, and I would buy a couple of mirrorless cameras and a few lenses to play with, but I have no interest in most of the systems out there beyond mine, and not much interest in other cameras from my system. I would get a little SL1 to play with, and maybe a couple of lenses for it, but that would be about it.

Not because I think they are good, but because I would like to improve (feel free to provide me with feedback):
