Nikon 80-400 A-FS G , To be or not to be

I've been eyeing this lens recently! Its certainly outside my price range but where theres a will ...

Anyways I had the Tamron 150-600 for 2 days and didn't feel the love. Since then I've gone with the Nikon 70-200 F4 and this is some lens! Sharp across the frame great contrast and colors pop.

It just misses some more reach!

Researching this lens I was a little dismayed with the MTF results this reviewer got with the lens:

And when looking at the comparison tools at:

It appears quite weak at 400. To my eye I see it like this :

80-400G              vs              70-200F4

@80 F4.5,winner              @85 F4

@105, equal

@135 F5, equal

@200 F5.3, winner

@300 F5.6,winner           @280(with TC1.4)

----- Comparing between the longer lengths for IQ against the F4 @200

@300                                   @200, corner is better

@400 F5.6                          winner+

@400 F8                             winner

@400 F11                          winner

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried both lenses.

Just to add something visual heres a bird shot from about 12' away that I am quite pleased with. This lens is also good for closeups! Reminds me of my 300 A-FS F4 that I had.
