For shooting the scene, should the aperture be larger or smaller and why?

The following picture is shot at ISO 80, F5 and 1/400. It is a little brighter though it can be corrected by PP. I wonder the aperture should be smaller such as 8 or larger such as 2 and why to shoot the scene assuming the AV model will be used. Thank you for your answer.

ISO 80, F5, 1/400, Focal Length 16.49 mm
