I have no experience with Tokina, but they might be worth checking out!

As to the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, I love this lens, but it really isn't for landscapes. Minimum aperture is f/16 (fine for some shots, but not all). Plus it is very heavy and can be considered too long for some landscape work.

That was my first thought as well, I'm not sure if it's wide enough with the 18-35, the sales man tried to convince me that I would not like the distortion on the 8-16mm, but I'm not so sure. I've seen lots of test images from the lens, and It looks great!
