Although the articulated LCD is handy, for BIF, and even sitting birds, the D7100 has superior AF. And that is very important.

Also, according to an Authorized Nikon Service facility Nikon does not allow those facilities to work on the D5nnn series or the D600 bodies. That sends up a red flag to me.

There are lots of excellent P&S cams with articulated LCD screens. The smaller sensor would also provide much better DOF without having to use higher f-stops like we do with the SLR rigs.
