A thought about the Quattro vs. Merrill image quality

One of the things I have noticed and dealt with with the images from my SD1 is over-contrast.  Frequently, I am having to reduce contrast to get the image where I want it.

I downloaded a RAW Quattro X3F and loaded it into SPP 6.  The first thing I noticed is I had to add contrast to get the same level of pop and crispness that I've been used to with my SD1.

In the comparisons we've seen so far, the Quattro images look like they could use a good dose of contrast added when processing the RAW files.

I am wondering if this difference in contrast handling is accounting for the fact that the Merrill images are looking more detailed?
