Re: Have Sony 3N: Why Does E-PM2 Attract Me?
I too am looking at the EPM2. However, based on Amazon prices, it is going for about $330. I've yet to see the $200 price point that you mentioned. Perhaps you can share where its available at that price.
The EPM2 has a sensor that is on the same level as it's $700 siblings. Heck, it should be performing similar to the EM1 top of the range Olympus camera, minus the image stabilization features. It has a set of value for money Zuiko micro four thirds lens as well as the Panasonic lenses. Can't be beat for choices. It's not without it's cons of course. That mainly revolves around it's user interface. Olympus cameras are also not well recommended for action photography. It has problems tracking moving objects.
The Sony system has it's advantages as well, as you're well aware. However, would you jump ship for $200 ? and start building up a new lens system ? In my opinion, why not for $200 ? get the EPM2 and play around with it. If you don't like it, you don't have to invest in the other lens. Just get the kit lens and see comes out of it. If you like it, then consider further investment. You can always sell of the Sony system at a later point in time once you have become familiar with the micro four thirds sensor.
You can get a refurbed EPM2 2 lens kit from Olympus right now with the SUMMER20 code for ~$250. Sell the 40-150 and youre under $200 net. I bought one as a backup to my E-M5.
