All we know at present is that the E-M5 has not yet been equipped with 0-second AS. Whether it will or will not and what the reasons are (business decision or technical impediments), we don't know. It's not yet three months since the E-M1 got 0-second AS. It's one and a half month since the E-P5 got it. It's about a month since the E-M10 got it. I see no reason at this stage to rule out that the E-M5 will get it too.
Olympus may be waiting to release an E-M5 successor, so people rush out to buy it and then announce a firmware 0 second update for the E-M5. If they did it in reverse order, there would likely be less sales early on for the E-M5 II.
Just a thought.
While everything is conceivable, I doubt that the E-M5 II sales will be much affected by whether the E-M5 already got 0-second AS or not. I also hope that Oly is not too short-sighted in their thinking about this issue. To my mind, it's a matter of manufacturer credibility of a kind that builds (or not) loyalty and confidence. If Oly doesn't bring 0-second AS to the E-M5 although it is technically feasible (which we don't know for sure but which I find pretty strong reasons to suspect), I think they miscalculate market reactions.
... for a management position. I could tell from the interviewer's reaction to my answers that I was hitting it out of the ballpark through most of the interview. That is, until he asked me what my three top priorities (in order) would be if they offered me this position. I answered, "Giving good customer service." as my top choice.
Buzzer goes off!!
Wrong answer. My number 1 concern should have been making the most profit for the company. Good customer service was their #3 priority. I said the two go hand-in-hand. He agreed but making a big profit was the answer he was looking for.
So maybe you're right. Olympus may release the firmware first (assuming there even will be an E-M5 II). But if it comes in the other order. This is one possible explanation. This is sad but a reality of the business world especially when there are stockholders involved.
I think Oly has been doing a good job staying on top of addressing these various problems with quick updates as of late. I do hope they will follow-up with an update for the E-M5 also. There seems to be a logical order they're following with updates for their most expensive and latest cameras.
