Have always felt the Olympus kit lenses were underrated

Have had many copies of the 14-42 over the years (currently the IIR and the EZ Pancake) and always felt that for the majority of people using Olympus cameras (especially the m4/3 line) they were extremely capable. Are they as good as other lenses (read the primes and the high-end zooms), no - but for the majority of my shooting, they are perfect. Great combination of size/weight/price/IQ.

Some of mine - various different 14-42s.
