I like the man in the fg and especially i like the way his gaze echoes the woman's, but i also would have liked him not to overlap quite as much the bg subjects. I suspect either snapping the picture a fraction of a second earlier, or stepping closer to him in order to magnify him in the frame, thus making it possible for him to curl around the tent without covering it up (ie, his head would be closer to the top of the frame, his hands would be almost the same placement, the tent very slightly higher in the frame).

This may not be an immediately useful suggestion, but i hope it helps to explain which parts of the picture i think are working well, and which parts i think could work better. Overall, i think it is a promising approach.
