How does one not know nor remember where they took a photograph? I turned my battery draining GPS off on my A77 after one day.

Going through the box of my dad's pictures after he passed I found these on the same roll of film taken apparently in 1983.

While preserving digital media is a interesting concept in itself, I do have pictures like this my son may one day come across like this:

And he'll know exactly when and where it was taken. I really had no idea where I was when I took it.

I was left literally thousands of photos taken by older relatives. (They are automatically sent over to me.) All but 2 or 3 people in this photo from about 1952 have passed on and I sure would be interested to know if this location still exists or if it has a parking lot on it, but there's no way for me to know. It would be so cool to go there with my own family now and eat in that same place, if it exists, but I have no idea where it was taken other than somewhere in McHenry County IL.

I wish I knew.
