Anyone knows for sure if the Canon FDn 50mm f1.4 is one of those radioactive legacy lenses, or I should not worry at all? There are different versions of this lens? If yes, which one has the best performances and how can it be spotted?

No, it is no Thorium lens. I have it for my A7 and it really shines from f/2 with f/1.4 still usable. You can get it in the e bay for 50€ or so.

It's not, but, you shouldn't "worry" about radioactive lenses anyway. They're not dangerous to use and they're relatively easy to clear if they get yellowed.

Onlu remembered i had when the kids pulled it out to play with :-P It has a little bit of very old fungus but doesn't seem to affect anything some samples here Canon FD 1.4

How are the colors with this lens? I can't tell from your pics as they are post processed. The green and blue seem to be muted, darkened, not so vibrant. Is it right?

Definitely not radioactive.

Here's a fairly comprehensive list http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Radioactive_lenses
Just an FYI, I own four of the radioactive lenses on this list and this thread got me thinking about this issue for the first time in a long time.

So I asked a friend of mine who is a world-class physicist at one of the world's leading universities if I should worry about it.

He said that having them in my office is no problem, as even one foot away from the lens the radiation they put out has diminished to normal background levels. However he also said not to put them right up to my eye for "more than one second". So no looking inside for dust/fungus/oil on the blades!!!
