Nobody ever missed a shot because the camera didn't have GPS

I've already missed several because the A77ii hasn't got a focus assist light

A bit of solstice acrobalance with Chris and Claire

This was VERY dark and I was shooting wide open to keep the off camera flash power down and not blind the performers. The Low Light AF of the A77ii just wasn't up to it, and manual focus was tricky given the lack of light. I know there's various workarounds but with the A77 it would have just focussed - no workarounds necessary

Why didn't you use the built in focus assist via flash that the A77II has? That should have helped. You don't have to use the flash in the final exposure to use the focus assist flash.

Yes you do - unless you sod around pressing the flash half down or something

Also, if you have an on-camera hotshoe flash that has a built in focus assist, it will use that instead.

I wasn't using on-camera flash and my hotshoe was being used by a trigger

Lastly, what's going on in the right of the image? Lens ghosting from a flash?

Probably some idiot of a photographer smoking while he took the photo. This wasn't a photoshoot as such, just a BBQ on the beach and they suddenly called me over to photo this move mid-fag!

They did try it again without the smoke - but claire fell off and bruised her coccyx - meaning the end of the acrobalance for the night
