To "upgrade" to the new D800 it will only cost me about $1,000

We seem to have differing thoughts (or pocketbooks?) regarding the word "only"

I think I would need a fairly compelling reason to upgrade from my D800e, or from my D800 for that matter. Perhaps someone will review the new model and reveal some startling improvement.  I'm also a bit gun shy about being a Nikon beta tester again

I haven't been bothered by any of the issues discussed on the forums, although they do need a fair amount of AF fine tuning. Not to say something might not exist, but I haven't found it yet

Rather, I would think it might be an opportunity for some folks to hope for discounts on existing stock. Not holding my breath though.

"Sick cultures show a complex of symptoms such as you have named...but a dying culture invariable exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners is more significant than a riot."
This symptom is especially serious in that an individual displaying it never thinks of it as a sign of ill health but as proof of his/her strength. ...Friday, it is too late to save this culture--this worldwide culture... Therefore we must now prepare the monasteries for the coming Dark Age. Electronic records are too fragile..."
