Thanks for the information. Much appreciated. But why would the "short" setting drain the battery more and increase the overheating?

That was reported at the biofos website here. Do a find for the word lag. The third 'lag' will bring you to that section.

So may this is NOT a good setting to use?

Maybe it's a matter of priorities. CrisPhoto found it to be helpful in his famous thread. The downside is the shorter battery life and some more heating. I prefer to be on the safe side wrt sharpness so I keep the release mode on Short and carry another battery, just in case. I did notice that the battery life is shorter but I think that the camera shots faster so it balances the short delay introduced by the 0-sec anti shock.
