Re: E-P5 shutter shock ...

The anti-shock does that shutter delay, easily seen by choosing say 2 seconds anti-shock delay and shooting with a lens off. You then see the shutter close as you press the shutter button - next see the shutter wait closed for 2 seconds - then lastly run for the exposure.

Way better to use 2 or 4 seconds anti-shock than Timer delay when on a tripod, but usually I seem to use 2 seconds Timer delay plus 2 seconds anti-shock for tripod use. That's a heavy tripod as 2 seconds is enough time to make shutter shock vibrations disappear, a flimsy tripod may need 4 seconds.

Some time ago I did sound recordings with the microphone held hard against the body, the resulting noise is mechanical vibration and my guesses as to shutter timing are here, no delays involved....

E-PL5 shutter.

After the exposure the shutter stays closed for around 1/10 second during the A/D conversion and unloading to buffer, and the final crash on the right is the shutter opening again to deliver live view again.

As for me, never really seen shutter shock but then I prefer not to pixel peep everything. So far no problem with E-PL1 (2 of them), E-P3, and E-PL5 (2 of them). I do see blur occasionally but usually that's me or IBIS/OIS blur, no double edging seen to date.

Regards..... Guy
