With that being said, if you much prefer Olympus bodies my advice is worth less. All i can offer is my experience though. Coming from DSLRs which suffer from mirror slap in similar SS ranges, i can't tell you how glad i am to be able to get tack sharp photos when i want them. When i read the many posts complaining about shutter shock, it always reminds me why i bought my GX7.

As for others who call you crazy, i think it's just a matter of standards. Some people never look close enough at their photos to tell. I admit im a sharpness nut, i care about the little things far more than a hobbyist should perhaps, but that's me. The only problem i have now is, since i have experienced the advantages of ditching the mechanical shutter only cameras, it's hard to go back.

Olympus have actually done the world a favour by brining the shutter shock topic to the forefront..

However, the fact is that it is still a problem for many of us with older models such as the E-M5. The 1/8s anti-shock "solution" isn't acceptable.

I, for one, am looking to jump ships.

Olympus must be crazy not to issue a statement. Personally I am leaning more to problems with technique etc that cause double images. There may be some slight blurring at lower shutter speeds due to shock. But that's my opinion and I admit I may be wrong. Olympus issue a statement and if there is a problem issue a firmware update to eliminate it or reduce the effect. Do it for all the cameras affected not just the flagship models.
