Re: Anybody using a 2 NEX kit?

I'm often using 2 bodies, in a number of ways. The most common configuration:

  • NEX1: Sigma 30mm (or a 50mm, or 85mm) .. general-purpose prime or a portrait prime
  • NEX2: 10-18mm

Another that I use when I know I'm going to be shooting wide-angles:

  • NEX1: 10-18mm
  • NEX2: 8mm fisheye (16M pixel NEX for this lens to avoid magenta color shifts)

Things have got a lot more flexible now I have the A7r which can double the functionality of the lens that's attached. A versatile combination is:

  • A7r (FF): Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FF standard prime
  • A7r (APS-C): Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 APS-C short portrait prime
  • NEX: 10-18mm

Notice that all my setups include the 10-18mm, which is the backbone since I shoot a lot of wide angle. Covers a lot of useful focal lengths, very well, for just 225g.

My original NEX-5 has been converted to IR, so sometimes I will take this along (usually with the 18-55mm kit) as a second body.
