A D7100 will give you more resolution, better noise, greater dynamic range than your D7000. Your D300 is very much old technology.

24 MP has the same resolution as DX or FX at lower ISO's.

My suggestion would be to trade the D300 and D7000 toward a D7100 and D600/610. Owning a current version of each format means you can use DX when it is the best tool and FX when it is the best tool.

It may also worth waiting for Photokina in September to check out new Nikon products.
