Hi,

are you using original lens hoods or alternative ones? I'm thinking if getting one for my 50/1,4 and want to know, if the original one is better, or if you are paying only the Canon brand.

Thanks

I've tried aftermarket lens hoods and always return to Canon's--even though they are overpriced which annoys the heck out of me. They are designed for specific lenses so they fit perfectly and provide maximum protection from impact and lens flare.

Some use black flocking which can pick up dust over time that needs to be periodically removed (I use Scotch Tape). But that black flocking is wonderful for killing extraneous reflections inside the hood to provide clean images.
