The 5D MKIII is not out of my budget ( I own two L series lens too) but I am worried that the jump from my current camera the Canon 1100D to the 5D MKIII would be too big?

I made the jump from a 550D to the 6D, and even that was a pretty big jump!

So I took a photography course, which forced me to learn most of the features. Very glad i did, though i still make rookie errors (though I have been shooting Canon on and off since the film days).

I did have a 7D here for a while and I found the AF system tough to use, I was happy to go to the simpler 6D system. The 5DIII would be similar, requiring a commitment to get the most out of it.

BTW I have done a bit of BIF with the 6D, not optimal, but I got quite a few keepers. If it is not a big part of your shooting you should be OK.

Above all, get them in your hands and think about your intended uses. I found the 5D to be pretty large, and since I want to travel with it, the 6D size was preferable for my needs.
