First, a normal lens with an f1.8 aperture isn't terribly difficult to design.  Does Sony have a 21mm f1.4?

Second, sharpness doesn't mean everything.  There are plenty of famous lenses that are not the sharpest but still worshiped.

Third, Leica is the whole package.  Rangefinders are still the best option for street photography.  At least, for A7r, the shutter noise is the deal breaker for most people.

Most importantly, Leica and the A7 series are aimed at different people.  It doesn't have to be one or the other.  Sometimes a Leica user will get a A7 just to play with...
