Both my E1 and E5 have been repaired by Olympus.
Took them to "Trinitek Electronics" near Toronto, Canada.
Took close to a month and both are back in pristine, cosmetic condition.
Here's hoping the internals work as fine, as the exteriors look.
The E1 had an intermittent On/Off switch, repairs listed as:
Repaired top cover, E1 front and associated parts, updated firmware and tested
E1 front ...the fake leather was replaced. Camera looks new.
E5 looked to have a shutter failure. Repairs to it as listed:
Replaced shutter,Top cover. E3 front and tapes. Updated firmware tested and cleaned.
Guess the E3 reference might be a typo on their part.
No idea whether the work was carried out in the Toronto area or whether the cameras had
to go to the USA.
Cost of the E1 repairs $260Cdn, more than the camera is worth, I guess, but I couldn't part
company with it.
E5 repairs were $206Cdn which for a shutter assembly, top cover and cleaning is a fair price I
Just thought others might be interested in costs associated with Olympus repairs.
Note that the E5 now has 33 shutter activations.
