Black Rapid Straps ... is it worth the risk?

I need a comfortable and "SAFE" solution for carrying my D6 when I have the 70-200mm attached so I've just purchased the Black Rapid Curve (RS-7). I've not hooked it up yet as I've been reading mixed reviews about it failing causing the camera to drop. Eeeek!

There are a number threads on here and other forums with mostly positive feedback but then you come across the odd disaster story. My kit is new and I can't afford a "disaster" so I'm now wondering should I look at an alternative solution like say, the Crumpler Singapore Sling or something akin to that.

Thanks in advance for any feedback you may offer.
