Why Jpegs look sharper than RAW?

My dears,

i dont write much on here (almost at all) but when i do is because i have a BIG problem and i need smart people as you are to help me understand. I have a Canon 550D and i have decided to shoot Jpeg and Raw in the same time just in case i am lazy to process family pictures and i need to urgently take them out of camera. But when i did find time to sit down and process, like tonight i found myself facing this dilemma: The Raw file, is sharpened and yet is not as sharp as the jpeg that the camera took out original.

I am going to post here the 2 examples. First the raw converted (which btw looks amazing in the program DPP but once it is converted doesnt look as sharp as it was in the program). The second is the jpeg only a bit retouched. Can you please explain to me why the raw converted looks worse than the jpeg? Shouldnt be backwards?

I do apologize in advance for my silliness but i had no one where to turn to for help and please just because i asked what may seem to most of you a silly question, try to help me

Thank you all in advance!

Best regards

Iris
