If we are talking about a group picture I think one would like to see his eyes and nose in the picture. I don't think that in a group photo at 24mm ( where I suppose there will be 20 or more people in the picture) you will be able to see much unfavorable details. For a portrait maybe but not in a group shot.

It is also easier to frame with a zoom -


Also I now saw Bruxi's gear list and it seems that he is shooting crop not full frame.

For crop I would recommend something wider: Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, Canon 16-35mm f2.8, Canon 17-40mm f4, Samyang 14mm f2.8 (this one is manual), Canon 10-22mm, etc.
