Nikon D200 - D300 comparison


As promised, here's my D200 - D300 comparison.

I will readily say it's a flawed test, as the D300 was set to ISO 100. Personally, I don't see that as a problem.

That 1 extra stop of light going in will buy you cleaner shadows (D300).

You have less highlight headroom, but also cleaner shadows. It's a nice deal.

IMO, it's ok to compare them at this setting. YMMV.

My take on these:

D200 has a more organic and gentle starting point. It's way closer to how I saw the scene.

I won't comment further. I'll leave that for you guys.

Please disconsider the boring subject.

I can't compare them again at their respective base ISOs, because the D300 is my brother's camera.


If anyone wants me to start a thread for that P40 - D800 comparison (also posting the link again), just let me know, as I had zero trouble to post these the first time... and some folks ended up locking the thread.
