Been asked for some more shots from this camera, so for any body interested here are some images taken yesterday in good light, SOOC . I've tried to show a varied selection. Did quite a good job and was pleasantly surprised overall but the last two images show the cameras weakest area for mushy detail.

These look really nice--you were not happy with the last two but I'm partial to watery-boaty scenes like this and think this is gorgeous.

Wondering if you purchased the SP100 for the zoom and if you're generally pleased.

Hi

Yes I like water/boats too. Just don't like the mushy wide angle detail. Having said that, when viewed at normal size they look ok. Only shows up when you start zooming in on the PC.

Here's a couple more watery/boaty images below.

I did get the SP-100 mainly for birding which so far I'm happy with.

These are beautiful compositions, very nicely shot,

I think they show exactly what you are talking about: they look great, just don't try to crop them much, or zoom in too much, or view or print too big.

It is always hard to know how big an image can be printed, or viewed on our larger monitors: smaller sensor = smaller print, but, how small? On the Sony Cybershot forum last year, a simple survey, most people answered: with all the easy ways for instant sharing, they don't print anymore.

I am now testing a Stylus 1, as a companion to my sony rx100. I crop the heck out of my sony's 1" sensor shots, a long habit from using and cropping from aps-c size sensor to shoot musicians and musical instruments in small music clubs. I look for details, patterns, alternate crops, out of habit.

I am realizing, for the Stylus 1, 1/1.7" sensor size/pixel count: use it for what it is, it can do very well, but plan the shots without heavy cropping in mind.

Does that SP-100 also have Oly's digital 2X tele-converter built into the processor? Stylus 1 does, from 300mm to 600mm, and it is really good as I hoped it was.

Double the Zoom/No extra weight. I also bought the tcon-17 1.7x converter, goes to 510mm optical, when combined with the digital 2X it gets to 1,020mm.
