I have that lens and a G5 as well as a GH4 and a GH3 (which is in repair at the moment.) That lens works just fine on the G5. I often set my cameras on multi exposure when I'm taking bird or wildlife photos. The GH4 can take a huge number of photos before it gets bottle necked. Not so much the G5. It reaches its limit and won't take any more photos. Other than that, it takes fine photos and works just fine with the 100-300. If you are feeling like upgrading, and if you are interested in taking really amazing videos, you might consider the GH4. It focuses faster and can handle a very large number of quickly taken photos. And its video is world class. It is bigger than the G3 but for me that is an asset. I have rather large hands and the GH4 fits them perfectly.

Thank you Ann for your suggestion. I am not thinking of upgrading right now and GH4 is way over our budget. My wife rather wants a prime like 20/1.7 for some street shots
