Chipping? What is that!?

Here is a challenge question for which I do not know the answer, if there is one.

I recently read an article about a digital camera that mentions a bit of delay in recording RAW files. The article states that the photographer may continue to create RAW images by pressing the shutter at will, but that there would be a cummulated delay - Okay fine.

The author then says, "Unless you're the type of photographer that does a lot of chipping, this will not be a problem."

What on Earth is "chipping?" I have tried unsuccessfully to contact the author and cannot find the meaning ANYWHERE. Grrrrrrr! The only things I can find are about proprietary camera battery checks, birds, and golf.

Thanks, and good luck. I hope somebody knows this one.
