D7100 Viewfinder Magnification Issues

After a two week session in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, I've come to the conclusion that I need something to magnify the viewfinder image in my D7100 in order to manually fine tune focus on subjects that don't auto focus consistently, such as animal hair at longer range. I've tried the Nikon DK-21M and found it to be lacking in sufficient magnification and downright uncomfortable to use. While "Live View is an obvious answer to this focusing issue, it's not always useful especially in bright daylight. Anyone with any experience of this problem have any ideas?

Thanks, Jim - jamesfarrell.smugmug,com
