Sea Eagle surprise.

Earlier this year I spent days hiking through mangrove swamp trying to get some shots of Ospreys near their nests - result one keeper @ 1000mm.

Today we went up the coast to Caloundra and parked by Bulcock beach.

Expecting to get a few shots of Gulls.

A few semi tame birds patrol the boardwalk stealing fisherman's bait.

When I looked up at the roof on a beachfront cafe and couldn't believe my luck.

A fisherman threw a Happy Moment (if you ever get pricked by its dorsal spines you will know why it got its name) expecting the egret to take it; the the eagle had other ideas.

Judging by the fishing line around the branch this bird has a habit of helping himself to fish before they have been landed.

Just around the corner the beach at Mooloolaba has a sign to attract tourists ???

PS. I was expecting poor light so all the above were taken in 8Mp mode PP with a bit of cropping and resize from the RAW. But I still can't get the sharpness I dream of.
