Mini BIFs an exercise in stupidity :)

Sat indoors this morning waiting for a tradesman to call I thought I would try a bit of "Extreme BIFing" so put the 50-200 + EC-14 on the EM-1, pressed the lens hood against the double glazing of my conservatory and started shooting bees feeding on a Salvia at around 12ft distance

Single point af with smallest central focus and 6fps, pushing the ISO up to 1250 to keep the shutter speed where I needed it at f7.1 hand-held with IS-1 and blow me down if it didn't autofocus without problem

Here are some 100% crops of bees in flight, not great shots (but you wouldn't really expect that ) but you can see the proboscis extended, fur detail etc

Must try it without the double glazing in the way

At least I know my +10 focus adjustment is working with the EC-14 attached

(the tradesman turned up on time too - happy days)

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!
