in my case as i mentioned in a previous thread there was not mach exposure to the sun... might be just the matter of seconds...  Looks like it depends on how harsh the sun is.  At the time it happened the sun was straight up above me and i did use only evf for shooting and lcd for reviewing, and one can simply imagine how easy to expose the evf to the sun when reviewing the pictures you just taken... how long? guess ..seconds, minutes?  my take is: it is not a design flaw - it is an issue Olympus has take very seriously - this is a flagship pro grade camera, and it looks like even minimal straight sunlight exposure to evf is causing the problem, sorry Olympus, can you use that little evf lcd with overheat protection? sure its possible.. just extra maybe few dollars?
