The XE-1 VF lag can be minimized quite a bit by half pressing the shutter while panning. Another tip that has been posted here several times is to turn off the image preview in the menu. In lower light, using bright apertures is also very helpful. As others have mentioned, it just takes a bit of time to get used to it.

I don't use the XE-1 for sports or much super fast action and for my purposes, have not found the VF limiting. I also use manual focus lenses often and find the focus aids work great on the little Fuji.

It's great to have choices.
