I don't use them much but its all a matter of degree (unless you do full manual on manual focus lenses) - I often use Panasonics iA mode as a starting point, or when handing my camera to someone else to take a quick shot.

While not a "scene mode" the face detect is another one, that, in my opinion works quite well even though many people do not use it at all

Face detect is fantastic. But it took forever for panny to figure out the "eye detect" sub feature that makes such sharp portraits. My EPM2 has it but my GM1 et al do not. I believe that it is listed as a feature of the GH4, so in a few years we'll all get it on the next generation bodies, should those ever come to pass.
