i've noticed the grain too (with many 4/3 and my two m4/3 [M1 + M5])...never really transfered to print so just did not worry too much about it (trying to remove it)

i recently tried DX0 for the first time and it removes the grain (at default setting).

i was a fan of LR but mostly cuz it was faster to use than Oly's stuff.

I prefer DXO over every thing I've tried.

DXO really does a great all-around job even at default settings.

Thanks for that Paul, I sometimes see "grain" in the LR5.4 shots yet when I check it in my Noiseware pro plug-in the noise level are negligible and, as you say, it never shows in the print.

It seems to be largely blue channel related and also seems to be an effect limited to LR

You won't see it in LR either as long as you expose well (ETTR) and, above all, do not add more sharpening than LR does by default. See my reply to Luis here for an example:

If you sharpen more than default in LR, noise will start showing pretty early and pretty clearly unless you turn the detail slider down towards zero and/or add quite a bit of masking. Personally, I now use Focus Magic for sharpening if I want more than the LR default (which is often but not always sufficient for my needs).

I did try the latest version of DXO as a free trial but I guess I'm just too enmeshed in the LR way of doing things and found I couldn't get on with it, shame as I know it is capable of great results

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!
