Thanks Tom, I appreciate. Good idea on the fill flash - and experimenting with levels. The one or two times I've tried the pop up flash I've ended up overexposed on the bird and surrounding foliage. This shot in particular, pretty close and with decent separation between the dove and the background, might have benefited from a light touch on the dove.
John, I don't have a pop up flash on my D4s, but I do use a SB910 without the Extender, too. Usually starting at -3 with the flash and working from there.-- hide signature --

Thank you, John. Those little hummers are fun to photograph and they can have some serious "tude" for such small birds.
