Re: What is "Foveon Blue"?

Continuing with the (say incandescent) red lamp. If I shoot a scene with neutral colored objects in it and set the WB to 'incandescent' my cam handbook says the CCT will be 3150K and thus gray things will be . . er . . gray. That is what we expect on a good day with a following wind. The WB would therefore be deemed correct for that scene. Nothing new stated so far. However, as a result of that WB, the lamp image itself will have boosted blues, reduced reds and will look . . er . . less red. Which is another way of saying that the lamp color will be incorrectly rendered. Normally, we accept that as a normal consequence of getting all the other colors in scene 'right'. But what if I want the lamp color to be correctly rendered? (quod he, yet again).

My feeling is that if the WB were set for achromatic light, the lamp color itself would be rendered correctly. The nearest WB on my cam to achromatic light (i.e. 5455K, vide illuminant 'E') is the 'sunlight' setting which is 5400K - and a small adjustment to the so-called tint (green/magenta) would bring the WB quite close to achromatic.
