Why not. Depends on the landscape, your point of view, and what you'd like to achieve doesn't it? Personally, I shoot landscapes with everything from fisheye to 100 mm (200 mm EFL), occasionally even longer.

Panasonic 100-300/4-5.6 at 300 mm

The most use for this FL, as you say, is people photography, portraits, etc.,
